Following My Own Path

Updated: Apr 24, 2019

While it may seem like the whole world is on the same path: primary school, college, job, family; it is okay to live your life off the beaten path. My name is Olivia Rae Davis and off the beaten path is exactly how I found myself 2 years after starting college. College is amazing! It's fun, you learn a lot about yourself, how to navigate some of life's challenges, and you make amazing friends however, it's not without drawbacks. The drawbacks outweighed the benefits, in my case. Therefore after leaving Howard University I found myself at a crossroads and choose to take a leap of faith by starting my own cut and sew fashion brand.

I have always been interested in fashion and created beautiful garments in high school, so when I left school I had to figure out how to start and run a business. These are challenges that require dedication and intense hard work, but in order to get something you've never had you must do something you've never done. Additionally, I love fashion and running a business. I feel like each day has purpose and this makes me want to get up and change lives through my craft. Find what you love and make it work for you, that may be in a creative field, healthcare, or STEM industry and if you choose to further your education be competitive and be the best. Remember, success is not instant and you have to fail in order to learn and to try again because we are young and have all the time in the world!
