I’ll never forget that moment back in June of 2016. I thought my computer crashed but my internet access was revoked. I stepped outside my office to ask my staff if anyone else was having problems with logging in. Not five minutes later, my boss and the head of HR walked into my office, closed the door and explained that my position as Director of Payroll was being eliminated, at that moment. Had I not been preparing for my own exit strategy and taking notes during our meetings, I would have been slighted.
It was instantaneous that I started building my portfolio as a Consultant-Independent Contractor and three years later I am still at it. As a Consultant-Independent Contractor I help businesses start new businesses and improve their performances. I assist in identifying opportunities, supplement the existing staff, get the ball rolling on change, teach and train employees and most importantly add value to the organization. Had I not been escorted off the premises of my employer of almost 15 years, I may have never stepped out on faith. Thank you previous employer. Thank you, next. Over the course of three years, I have continued to build relationships and birthed two additional businesses.
As the Founder and Executive Director of I’m HIP Youth Organization it is my goal to expose the youth to the unforeseen. I do not pretend to know it all but it is my job to do the research and assist them in making the needed connections to get them to their expected end-the career path of their choice all the while assisting with building long-term friendships and strategic adult alliances. I’m HIP has partners with businesses and individuals who believe in our mission. Like the saying goes, it takes a village.
Lastly, my newest business A Comfort Zone In-Home Services provides quality care for the elderly, disabled or infirmed. Although still in its infantile stages of development, I foresee my passion for caring for the elderly, disabled and infirmed flourish. Although this has not been an easy journey, it was been worth it. And although I’m a few years in, this is just the beginning. I have so much to offer my clients, the youth and loved ones who depend on us when their health is ailing.
I thank my Prince of Peace for allowing me to continue on this journey and most importantly continue to be my present help. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” Isaiah 41:10
I encourage all the youth to allow life experiences to help build character, appreciate your wins and loses but never give in or give up. Proudly move on to what's next without any regrets.
Thank you, Next!
